Wedding in Tuscany

Rolling hills, lush and green, surrounded me. Rows of olive trees and vineyards lined the road as I made my way to Montepulciano to photograph the beautiful wedding in Tuscany of Giulia and Mattia.

I happened to be in Tuscany visiting my family when this unexpected and beautiful opportunity appeared. My dear friend and colleague Elisabetta Bello, who was heavily pregnant at the time, had a wedding in Montepulciano, and I reached out to see if she might need some support.

And of course, being the wedding enthusiast that I am, I couldn’t possibly say no to the chance to capture a wedding in Tuscany—especially one filled with love, breathtaking landscapes, and the joy of doing what I love most.

And so I suddenly found myself there, among the vineyards and rolling hills, ready to document the warm and elegant celebration of Giulia and Mattia’s unforgettable wedding in Montepulciano.

Wedding in Montepulciano

Montepulciano needs no introduction. This charming hilltop village, surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills, is the very essence of Tuscany. With its historic buildings, narrow cobblestone streets, and golden afternoon light, it’s hard to imagine a more romantic setting for a wedding in Tuscany.

The ceremony took place at the impressive Renaissance church of San Biagio, located just outside Montepulciano’s old town. Built from light-colored travertine stone and crowned with a majestic dome, San Biagio sits gracefully among olive trees and vineyards. It’s one of the most iconic and sought-after wedding venues in Tuscany. Walking through its doors feels like stepping into a painting.

After the ceremony, the celebration continued at Tenuta Vallocaia, a picturesque winery nestled among the hills and endless rows of vines. This estate is renowned for producing Vino Nobile di Montepulciano—one of Italy’s oldest and most respected red wines. Celebrating a wedding in Montepulciano, right in the heart of this historic wine region, adds a rich sense of tradition and depth to the day.

The aperitivo was served in the garden, under the open sky, surrounded by the scent of lavender, sun-warmed stone walls, and the sound of laughter and clinking glasses in the evening sun. It was a celebration full of intimacy, flavor, and the warm hospitality Tuscany is so famous for.
